Finish: Newcastle

Newcastle will provide the setting for the finish of Stage 3 of the Tour of Britain 2019 - North of Tyne.

Named after the castle built in 1080 by William The Conqueror's eldest son, Newcastle grew to be an important centre for the wool trade and then a major coal mining area.  As well as being one of the worlds largest shipbuilding centres, it is now notable as a centre for digital technology, tourism and culture.

Finishing on the historic Grey Street with an uphill sprint finish.
